GirlFRIENDS ministry was born through much pain and many sleepless nights. Praying and searching for a way out of the bad relationships and bondage from an abrasive relationship. Many cries in the night have gone unanswered and help was no where to be founded.
Girlfriends’ aim is to bridge the gap between the road leading to depression and the road leading to victory. The difference can be as simple as standing up for one’s rights or as complex as overcoming an abrasive relationship. This ministry is designed to identify the steps a client must take to point them to the road to freedom allowing them to see immediate results. Once they are placed in a self-help group it will ensure continual progress and a complete recovery.
Who do GirlFRIENDS service?
Our services are opened to women and men, regardless of color or creed, who are abused physically, emotionally or verbally by a spouse or partner from a long term relationship where children are involved. Usually the only means of support comes from this abusive relationship.
To support their children these victims has to beg, plead and put up with verbal and physical abused. There are cases where the victim is raped and threaten to have support cut off if they tell about the rape. This happens quite often.
Services
GirlFRIENDS along with its partners offer a number of services. The main service is our Counseling Services. Made up of our qualified staff and resource personnel. Each client will be evaluated and place in a road to recovery program.
Secondly, A self-help group consisting of survivals who will share experiences and technics they used to overcome the daily challenges on their road to recovery.
Thirdly, workshops will be offered to strengthen the clients to prepare them to face the same challenges that caused them to fail.
About the Founder:
Tanella Marlett Davis was born in a small Florida Panhandle County. Raised by both parents and having strong grandparent support. Attended a public school with all the potential for a successful life. Having three other siblings and filled with talent she set out to meet the world.
Accomplishing all her early goals including making the marching band as a flag girl. Being able to overcome long practices and tiring drills seemed small compared to the trauma she experienced the first years of her marriage. Looking for love in all the wrong places started a downward spiral that ended in what is called the girlfriends blues. Girlfriends blues consist of low self esteem, subpar lifestyle and dreadful days.
But through it all she survived by the help of God and the prayer of those who cared. Now she is able to tell her story to women near and far.
