Founded in 1901 under a bush habor in Gadsden County, Florida. Playing a very important part in the education of Gadsden County farm community the Friendship school house is know as one of the best educational facility in the south. This rich tradition continued until the present day school system was put in place.
The 1.16 acres property is located just west of the City of Quincy. Friendship community was once a striding community of farm workers living in rented farm houses surrounding the Church/School.
The historical cemetery was a burial ground for black soldiers during the Korean and Viet Nam war. Many graves are unmarked and the site is presently used by the Church to provide a special resting place for its members.
In 2002 the trustees purchased 25 acres North of the Church with the vision of a new sanctuary and Life Center. The Life Center will house a daycare and other social services to improve the community. A Residential community is also planned for the property.
The Friendship Resource in Education and Neighborhood Development Services, Inc. (FRIENDS, Inc) a Community Development Cooperation (CDC) was established in 2002 to serve the blighted citizens by providing affordable housing.
